The Wyandot County Recycling Center offered a contest open to all Wyandot County students in grades 6 through 12 this spring. The contest challenged the students to write, edit and create a public service announcement video, or reel, to promote recycling. This year’s theme was Don’t Trash Our Future - Recycle. The theme was to be incorporated into the 30 second or less video so the recycling center could use it to help promote recycling on their Facebook, Instagram and web pages.
This is the first year for the contest and the recycling center received 38 entries. You can view the winning entries as well as other creative entries throughout the next several months on the Wyandot County Recycling Center Facebook and Instagram pages.
The 1st place video was created by Ardyn North and Taylor Ruth, two freshmen at Upper Sandusky High School. They each won a $25 gift card to Walmart. Their teacher, Shelly Simon, promoted the contest in her freshmen digital media class at school.
The contest will be held again next year and is open to all students in grades 6-12 in Wyandot County. For more information, contact Janine McMillan at the recycling center.
