[ARCHIVED] PSA Video Contest Winners Announced

1st Place Winners Zoe LaMont Bryce Weyand Reece Gottfried Madison Wengerd absent

The Wyandot County Recycling Center offered a PSA contest open to all Wyandot County students in grades 6 through 12 this fall.  The contest challenged the students to write, edit and create a public service announcement video, or reel, to promote recycling. This year’s theme was “Recycling Heroes.”  The theme was to be incorporated into the 30 second or less video, so the recycling center could use it to help promote recycling on their Facebook, Instagram and web pages.

This is the second year for the contest and the recycling center received 31 entries.  You can view the winning entries as well as other creative entries throughout the next several months on the Wyandot County Recycling Center’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

The first place video was created by Zoe Lamont, Bryce Weyand, Madison Wengerd, and Reece Gottfried,  a team of students attending Upper Sandusky High School.  The winning team won gift cards with a total amount of $50. Their teacher, Shelly Simon, promoted the contest in her digital technology and computer applications classes at school.

The second place video was created by Karisanne Reile and Kendall Bishop. Third place went to Max Schooenberger. These winners were also awarded gift cards.

Five video entries received honorable mentions and were created by Aeryon McKinniss and Julitta Peace, Cierra Clark and Cali Weible, Alex Huffman and Atreyu Pelfrey, Adriane Yeater and Leah Cornish, and Adilyn Hessey.

The contest will be held again next year and is open to all students in grades 6-12 in Wyandot County.

The Wyandot County Recycling Center handles recycling for the county, villages, and Upper Sandusky. The recycling center and self-serve drive-thru is located at 11385 County Highway 4 south of Carey, Ohio.
